A Call For Obedience

CALL FOR OBEDIENCE
written by Kathy Todd ( not the scriptures )

Why should we be obedient to God?

Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God
rather than men.
The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree.
HIm hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to
give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.
And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom
God hath given to them that obey him.
Acts 5:29-32

We should be obedient to God because he sent his son, Jesus Christ, to die for
us for forgiveness of our sins. He sent us a saviour! Not only did God send his son
to redeem us, God raised Jesus from the dead to conquer death. If we truly believe
Jesus died for us to save us from death, we have life the same as Jesus has life
for eternity. God also sent the Holy Spirit to comfort and guide us in the work we are
commanded to do for God's kingdom. If we obey God, then there the Holy Spirit
will be to give us revelation and power that no earthly man can ever give.
----------------------------------
In what ways should we obey God?

1) Confess Our Sins:

If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth in not in us.
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to
cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
1 John 1:8-9

2) Confess our salvation through the blood of Jesus:

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in
thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For
with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession
is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him
shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the
Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Romans 10:9-13

3) Turn Away from the Temptation of the World:

Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the
world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the desires
of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but
is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that
doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
1 John 2:15-17

4) Fear God and Show Him Love by Keeping His Commandments:

Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his
commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work
into judgement, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or wheter it be evil.
Ecclesiastes 12:13-14

And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. He
that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the
truth is not in him. But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God
perfected: hereby know we that are in him. He that saith he abideth in him ought
himself also so to walk, even as he walked.
1 John 2:3-6

Jesus said: Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else
believe me for the very works' sake. Verily, verily, I say unto, He that believeth
on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall
he do; because I go unto my Father. And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name,
that will I do, tht the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any
thing in my name, I will do it. If ye love me, keep my commandments.
John 14:11-15

5) To Walk In The Spirit:

I Beseech you therefore, brethern, by the mercies of God, that ye present your
bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable
service.
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of
your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect,
will of God.
Romans 12:1-2
6) Be Filled with the Spirit:

And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and
making melody in your heart to the Lord; Giving thanks always for all things
unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ; Submitting
yourselves one to another in the fear of God.
Ephesians 5:18-21

7) Pray to God for Boldness to speak the Truth of the Gospel:

Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching
thereunto with all perserverance and supplication for all saints; And for me, that
utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make
known the mystery of the gospel, For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that
therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.
Ephesians 6:18-20

Why should we Move when God says to Move:
For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own
poets have said, For we are also his offspring. Forasmuch then as we are the
offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or
silver, or stone, graven by art and man's device. And the times of this
ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:
Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in
righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given
assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.
Acts 17:28-31

But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he love us, Even
when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, by grace
ye are saved; And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in
heavenly places in Christ Jesus: That in the ages to come he might shew the
exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus:
For by his grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the
gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship,
created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained
that we should walk in them.
Ephesians 2:4-10

---------------------------------------------------

To finalize this study, we should obey God with every part of our being because God
created our being through Christ Jesus. God gave life to Jesus therefore God gave us
life through Jesus. God clearly commands us live our lives as Jesus did and when we
keep his commandments, we show God that we love him and adore him. We should walk
in the spirit because Jesus promised that God would send us a comforter called the
Holy Spirit to stay with us and empower us to continue the work of the gospel and to
continue the faith of Jesus Christ and be a light of God's grace to draw those that are
lost to the saving blood of Jesus.

Dear Heavenly Father, I come to you now in the name of your son Jesus Christ. Lord I praise
you and glorify your Holy name. Lord please give me a heart of love and allow your grace
to shine through me so others might come to know you and accept Jesus as their Lord
and saviour. Lord please keep a bold voice within in my mouth and put in my mind and
heart your words you would have me speak. Lord please keep in my spirit your
commandments and shine my way with your light. Lord please prompt my feet and words
and actions to move as the Holy Spirit leads me to do so. Lord please put people in my
life and path that need to find their way to you and those that may need encouragement
and/or guideance. Lord please forgive me for anything and everything that I may have
said or done that was against you and your Holy word. Both known and unknown things.
I love you Lord Jesus and I give you all of my glory, honor and praise. In Jesus name I pray!
Amen
